Pastor Bauer conducted his first service on August 16 and served as Redeemer’s pastor until January, 1914, when he accepted a call to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1909, the Church celebrated its first Communion Service; the Congregation was organized; the Ladies’ Aid was established; the Young peoples Society was formed; and the Articles of Incorporation were accepted by the Congregation and recorded with the Commissioner of Deeds, Queens Country, New York. On January 18, 1914, a new Pastor, Theodore Kuehn, was installed to replace Pastor Bauer. Design for a new church was begun in December, 1925; ground-breaking ceremonies were held in April 1926; and the new church was dedicated in February, 1927. A new Moeller organ was dedicated the following month. An assistant Pastor, Rev. Gordon O. Gabram, was installed in September, 1951, and remained as Assistant until May, 1953, when he accepted a call to a Chaplaincy in the United States Army. In September of the same year, Rev. Frank G. The school opened in September, 1955, with 70 children enrolled with Pastor Reiter serving as its first principal. Pastor Abel retired in September, 1956, and Pastor Reiter was immediately installed to replace him. He served Redeemer until his death on February 25, 1981. Plans for a new building were developed in 1959 and ground-breaking ceremonies took place in October of that year. The partially completed school was opened in September, 1960, but was not finished and dedicated until April, 1962. Pastor Reiter again served as the school principal until 1966 when Mr. Sigmund Bohnet was chosen to fill the position. Expansion plans were initiated in 1969 leading to the erection of a one-story building and offices in 1970. Mr. Bohnet remained as principal until June, 1977. Succeeding principals include Miss Barbara Morton, Mr. Ted Frank, Mr. Wilbur Krumphardt, Dr. Lepold Hedbavny, Mr. Richard Althage, Mr. John Scheuermann and our current principal, Mr. Michael Williams. In March, 1982, Rev. Charles Gustafson was called to become Redeemer’s new Pastor and served until June, 1995, when he accepted a call to Cheshire, Connecticut. In January, 1997, Rev. Edward Callahan replaced Pastor Gustafson and remained at Redeemer until August, 2003. He left to accept a call to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Ringwood, New Jersey. Pastor Thomas N. Green then became Redeemer’s Interim Pastor in August, 2003, a position he held for nearly five years until June, 2008, when the Church called a permanent Pastor, Rev. William Wrede, who also accepted the call to serve not only Redeemer but also St. Matthew Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Elmhurst, New York. Redeemer Lutheran Church celebrated its 100 Anniversary on November 1,2009. In October of 2012 Reverend Curtis Dorsey took over as Pastor. He is keeping with tradition and expanding into projects directed to assisting the community. 1910 - 1926 The ��ongrcgation was not to be denied its ow:: church edifice.
