First up was the Boys U9 group, who played a pair of games over the weekend. The fi rst game pitted BWG against Jericho in the fi rst-ever night game played by the U9 team on Friday, April 7. The boys didn’t let the excitement of playing under the lights throw them off their game, as they piled up the goals and won 6-0. The following evening the Boys U9 team faced a tough Mineola Portuguese team. BWG, however, came away with a hard-fought 7-4 victory. The team will incorporate where they got exposed during the match into their practices to tighten up their game. On the girl’s side, the BWG Girls U9 team started their season on a good note by beating the Port Washington Swans 3-0 at Brennan Field. Sacred Heart Catholic Academy to host 14th Annual Twirling Contest BY ANTHONY GIUDICE [email protected] @A_GIUDICEREPORT Sacred Heart Catholic Academy in Glendale is hosting their 14th Annual Twirling Contest in the school gym on Saturday, April 22. The Sacred Heart Academy Twirlers will host five twirling organizations from across Queens and Brooklyn. The event is sanctioned by New York Twirling Organization, and the twirlers will range in age from 4 to 17 years old. The doors of the school gym will open at 9 a.m., and the contest will begin at 10 a.m. Admission for the contest is $5 for adults, $3 for children, and children under six-yearsold are free. At the event, Camille Sims, Miss New York State 2016, will be addressing the girls and presenting the awards. Sacred Heart Catholic Academy is located at 84-05 78th Ave., in Glendale.
