FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com november 19, 2015 • BUZZ • The Quens Courier 55 REGO PARK FAMILIES TO BEAUTIFY SCHOOL GROUNDS AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY ON FAMILY VOLUNTEER DAY The students and families of PS 174 William Sidney Mount in Rego Park will join together to revitalize the school’s grounds and give back to their neighbors on Family Volunteer Day. Projects include outdoor planting and leaf cleanup; a canned food drive to benefit City Harvest; creation of Holiday Cards for Heroes, to be distributed by the American Red Cross; and a Holiday Banner creation for Chapin Home for the Aging in Jamaica, NY. Family Volunteer Day is a day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their neighbors and neighborhoods. Each year, thousands of families use the day to teach children valuable real-life lessons about compassion and caring. Volunteering also can be a great way for kids and adults to develop skills, learn more about their community and make friends.
