The committee helps high schoolers across Queens afford and attain a college education. Several prominent community members were honored at the occasion, including P.O. State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, Assemblyman Michael DenDekker and City Council members Daniel Dromm and Karen Koslowitz, along with Queens County Clerk Audrey Pfeffer, visited with government officials in Dublin, Belfast and Cork and discussed issues including economic cooperation and education. They were greeted by Irish President Michael Higgins, the lord mayors of Dublin, Belfast and Cork, members of the Irish Parliament and the Northern Ireland Assembly. It was noted that no public funds were used for this excursion, as all parties paid their own way to the Emerald Isle.
