The vehicle’s 52-year-old driver was heading southbound on 126th Street between 35th and 36th Avenues around 11:40 a.m. when his 1992 Toyota Corolla rearended another car, said police. After the impact, the Toyota veered across the northbound lanes into New Pamir Auto Body Shop, located at 35-01 126th Street. The car struck a pedestrian in front of the shop and two men inside of it. All three victims were taken to New York Hospital Queens, said police One of the victims, a 33-year-old who was standing in the auto shop, was pronounced dead. A pedestrian, identified as a 30-year-old man, is in serious condition with severe body trauma. The third victim, 34, is in stable condition with body trauma. According to published reports, the man who died was a worker at the auto body shop. Another victim and worker may have his legs amputated. Both vehicles involved in the accident remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. 112TH PRECINCT Rego Park and Forest Hills Seek violent robbery suspect Police are looking for a suspect who robbed and assaulted a woman inside a Queens apartment building. According to police, the suspect followed the 25-year-old victim into her building near Wetherole Street within the 112th Precinct, punched her in the face and removed her wallet. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577- TIPS. Police searching for Kew Gardens robbery suspect Police are looking for a suspect connected to a robbery in an elevator. On Thursday, April 18, the suspect followed a 14-year-old victim into the elevator of a building near Union Turnpike and Queens Boulevard, police said. He asked the victim for her jewelry, cell phone and any money she had. Police said the suspect groped the victim while gathering her belongings. He then took the girl’s cell phone and left the elevator. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, about 6’3” and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and carrying a dark-colored backpack. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 1-800- 577-TIPS. 114TH PRECINCT Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside, and Jackson Heights Train fatally strikes MTA worker at Astoria subway station An MTA worker was killed on the job when a subway train struck him in Astoria early Wednesday morning, April 24, said the transit agency. The signal maintainer, identified as Louis Moore, 58, of Hollis, was working on the system around 3:20 a.m. when a Parsons/Archer-bound E train entering the 46th Street and Broadway station fatally hit him. “An intensive investigation into the circumstances of his death is underway, and this incident will be the subject of a formal board of inquiry by the New York City Transit Office of System Safety,” the MTA said in a statement. According to the MTA, the incident is the first death of an a New York City Transit worker on the job since 2010, and the first time a worker was struck and killed by a train since April 2007. s police beat COMPILED BY TONIA N.
