Women’s Club Happenings TUNE INTO JUNE WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15th, 7:30 p.m.—Lower card room (7:15 p.m.—$25 dues re-enrollment can be paid at this time) PROGRAM: “A Journey in Amsterdam: My Personal Friendship with Otto Frank” How can YOU get involved? Contact JULIE WEISSMAN at 718 423-3017 Hear a fascinating personal account by Barbara Goldstein, Clinical Social Worker, whose deep friendship with the father of Anne Frank evolved when she was a teenager. Calling the Holocaust “A seminal influence in my life,” Ms. Goldstein’s first-hand experience provides for a powerful program about the suffering and tragedies that this bleak period in history created. A Towers resident, Ms. Goldstein has lectured extensively to both adults and school age children about her friendship with Otto Frank and the lessons of the Holocaust for us today. She currently works at the Sid Jacobson JCC in a program that offers community wide services in collaboration with area synagogues, providing counseling for serious illnesses and bereavement support. Mark your calendar and make sure to attend this special evening. WEDNESDAY, JULY 20th, 7:30 p.m.—Lower Card Room SPECIAL PROGRAM—Baryshnikov: “HAIL MIKHAIL!” Welcome back Marilyn Carminio! Put on your ballet shoes and join us for an evening with our popular speaker from the Downton Abby presentation, Marilyn Carminio, as she presents the biography of Mikhail Baryshnikov. Ms. Carminio will trace Baryshnikov’s boyhood from Soviet occupied Latvia to his journey to the West. Included will be music and video clips with Frank Sinatra and Twyla Tharp. Carminio’s programs are always creative, original and reflect her extensive background in theater arts and art history. DUES NEWS: Time to renew by July 1st.
