16 North Shore Towers Courier n June 2016 Make an Informed Vote North Shore Towers PAC Hosts Congressional Debate Forum By PAC Member Vicki Mazel With the primary voting date of June 28th fast approaching for the E.D. District 3 Congressional seat currently held by Steve Israel, the NST Political Action Committee is hosting a candidates’ Debate Forum. Sponsored by the Queens Courier and North Shore Towers Courier, the program will be held on Thursday June 23rd, 7:30 p.m., at Towers on the Green. It is open to Towers residents and the general public. Candidates in attendance will be Jonathan Clarke, formerly of the New York State Attorney General’s Office; Jon Kaimen, past Supervisor, Town of North Hempstead; Anna Kaplan, North Hempstead Town Council Board Member; Steven Stern, Suffolk County Legislator; and Tom Suozzi, former County Executive of Nassau County. Jack Martins, Republican member of the New York State Senate has not confirmed his participation. The congressional seat being vacated by Steve Israel in January 2017 encompasses parts of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. This will be the last local opportunity for residents to hear the candidates before the primary election, scheduled for Tuesday, June 28th. Voting is held at Towers on the Green, and polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Only party registrants can vote in primary elections. The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 8th.
