Bar “When I was thinking of this whole
thing that I wanted to put together, it was
when I was at work,” Tirado said. “We used
to work hard and I remember one day
my boss said something like, ‘This place
definitely isn’t to die for,’ and I thought
if I could use that but change it to ‘dive’
and use the numbers two and four, I think
that’d be a nice puzzle to put together,
something original and creative.”
Now, he’s realized his dream in his own
neighborhood: In August, he and fellow
LIC resident Julie Christoffersen opened
tapas bar and restaurant 2 Dive 4 on 36th
Avenue. The two-floor venue is filled with
unique artwork of underwater divers and
fun décor like lights sourced from actual
submarines. The two owners are planning
an eclectic array of weekly events including
live music, art showings, movie screenings
and more.
Tirado and Christoffersen, who has a
background in the hospitality industry,
met at a restaurant years ago and built
a relationship over time. Eventually, they
