Queensborough Community College honors ‘Partners for Progress’
Queensborough Community College’s
2018 Partners for Progress Gala on April
26 at Terrace on the Park brought together
500 guests that included corporate, community
and business leaders, alumni, faculty,
staff, students, retirees, friends and
legislators.
Queensborough President, Dr. Diane B.
Call expressed deep gratitude for the support
of our donors, our faculty, students,
staff, alumni and retirees, our elected oficials,
business associates and friends from
the surrounding Queens community.
“Your generous contributions and
support mean so much to everyone at
Queensborough Community College. They
help to fund scholarships, grants, research,
professional development, travel abroad
opportunities for our students and bolster
our cultural and educational resources
which serve our College as well as the
greater community to which we all belong.”
The college honored Dennis Chuang,
director of consumer & business banking at
East West Bank, for supporting the QCC Art
Gallery. Ronald Appel, vice president and
general manager of the Repair Business
Group at Henry Schein, Inc., was honored
as the alumni partner of the year; he graduated
from Queensborough in 1981.
All funds raised by the Gala will be used
to support student success initiatives with
the goal of increasing student retention
and graduation rates, giving them an extra
edge to ind a career and earn a living
wage.
Funds will also be used to enrich the
student learning experience by supporting
faculty development, the Kupferberg
Holocaust Resource Center and Archives
(KHRCA), the QCC Art Gallery and the
Queensborough Performing Arts Center
(QPAC).
