ST. FRANCIS PREP SENIORS CONTINUE TO
IMPRESS WITH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
On June 2nd, the St. Francis Preparatory School
community will descend upon St. John’s
University to celebrate the graduation of the
612 students in the seinor class.
These students have received acceptances from
among other schools, the Sophie Davis School of
Biomedical Enginnering, Cornell University, Columbia
University, The Cooper Union, the University of
Pennsylvania, and Howard University. St. Francis Prep
is also the largest CUNY Macaulay Honors College
feeder school.
Seventeen institutions offered onsite interviews
through the course of the shool year, which alone
resulted in nearly $20 million in scholarship from
schools such as the College of Mount Saint Vincent St.
Francis College, and New York Institute of Technology.
Currently, Prep’s College Office is preparing statistics
on scholarship, with $137 million accounted for. Prep
fully anticipated students eclipsing $150 million in merit
scholarship for the current senior class.
Robyn Armon is the Director of College Counseling
at Prep, as well as the Chairperson of Guidance.
When asked to offer comments about what she does
on behalf of Prep’s students, she offered, “If I won
the lottery, I’d still do what I do, and no differently.
Changing the trajectory of children’s lives is the most
important thing we can do.”
Patrick McLaughlin, Prep’s Principal spoke about,
“how fulfilling it is to see students get to the end of
their high school careers; to mature, to come into
their own with a sense of cofidence, to know they’re
in a good place, to go to a good college, and to have
good beliefs and values that have been instilled from
us and from families. They will go into the world
leading fulfilling lives.”
Prep has traditionally boasted a college attendence
rate of over 99%, with the remaining students enlisting
in our country’s armed forces, or entering the work force
to save for college. Prep will hold its commencement
exercises on Saturday, June 2nd at St. John’s University.
