WHAT IS WEATHERIZATION?
Weatherization is a means by
which cold air can be
prevented from entering, and
heat from leaving a dwelling
unit, thus improving heating
efficiency and fuel savings.
We provide energy conservation
measures if needed such
as high efficiency lighting,
refrigerator replacement, roof
insulation, boiler and window
repair and replacement.

THE WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM

SE RVICES PROVIDED
The Weatherization Program
provides the following
services to qualified
homeowner and tenants.
• Weather-stripping and
caulking around doors and
windows
• Boiler replacement and
repairs as well as cleaning
and testing
• Replacement or repair of
broken windows and /or
external doors
• Refrigerator replacement
• Roof and sidewall insulation
• Roof repair
• High efficiency lighting
installed
• Housing repairs as needed,
to ensure optimum
efficiency from the
weatherization services
performed
Weatherization Services for
eligible owners of 1-4 unit
homes are completely FREE.
A minimal contribution is
required from owners of
multi-unit buildings of 5 or
more units. Any size building
is eligible to apply.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
HANAC’s Weatherization
Program is funded by NYS
Homes and Community
Renewal. Weatherization
effectively deals with
energy conservation and
gives both short-term and
long-term savings benefits
to landlords and tenants
The U.S. Department
of Energy (DOE) partners
with state-level agencies in
all 50 States to implement
the Weatherization
Assistance Program.
DOE Regional Offices
award grants to state-level
agencies, which then
contract with local
agencies to deliver
weatherization services to
eligible residents in every
county in the nation.
