If you work the night shift and live
in Queens, you’ll want to live in either
Sunnyside or Woodside, according to a
StreetEasy report.
Th e April 24 report found that city residents
who need to commute into Times Square-
42nd Street for their night shift have “many
practical options” in Queens, Manhattan and
the Bronx. However, Sunnyside tops the list,

Close behind was neighboring

rent at $1,900. Located slightly further east,
Corona is also a viable option, where residents
face an average 35-minute commute
and a median rent of $1,838.
For those who work in Jamaica or at
JFK Airport — which employs approximately
35,000 people — and need to access
the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue station,
central Queens off ers a wealth of
convenient housing options, according to
StreetEasy. Briarwood topped the list; night
shift workers there can fi nd median asking
rents of $1,725 and an average 11-minute
commute on the E train, which off ers

Neighboring Kew Gardens, which averages
a 15-minute commute to the transit

similar option.
Th e Queens neighborhood with the
lowest median rent to make the list was
Jamaica Estates at $1,698. It also features
the longest commute, via the Q54 bus, at
25 minutes.
To compile the report, analysts looked at
neighborhoods with median rents below
$2,000 with an average commute of 40
minutes or less to the city’s major transit
and night-time employment hubs. Th ey
also considered late-night crime statistics
