1 Free citizenship classes
are being offered at
the Long Island City location
of the Queens Library.
Learn everything you need to
know about American history,
government and culture
to pass the citizenship exam.
The class will be held from
11 a.m. to noon. Students
may register at the library
and must have a copy of
their own green card. The
program is 12 weeks long
and students must complete
the full 12-week course. The
Long Island City location
of the Queens Library is at

3 Go on a free
self-guided fitness
walking program from
the Fort Totten gate onto
Joe Michaels Mile back
(approximately 2 miles
long). The fitness walk will
be taking place from 9 to
10 a.m., and the event is
for adults only. The repeats
every week on Tuesdays and
Thursdays until Nov. 1. For

4 The Queens Botanical
Garden is hosting
an event called Opening
Day: Our Botanical
World, A Group Show
by Professional Women
Photographers. The group
is inspired by the botanical
world and its impact on
human life through all seasons.
The New York Mets are facing off against division rival Atlanta Braves on Thursday, May 3. The first pitch is scheduled
for 1:10 p.m. The Mets have started their 2018 campaign with a franchise record 10-1 start. There is a lot of
promise for the Metropolitans’ season through the first couple weeks and you don’t want to miss out on all the
excitement. Tickets for the game start at only $8. Citi Field is located at 123-01 Roosevelt Ave., Flushing. For tickets,

5 The Museum of the
Moving Image is hosting
a screening of the film
“Ghost in the Shell” at 7:30
p.m. in the Bartos screening
room. The 106-minute digital
production stars Scarlett
Johansson as Major, a human
who is cyber-enhanced to
be a perfect soldier devoted
to stopping the world’s
dangerous criminals. Tickets
are only $15 ($11 for seniors
and students/$9 for youth
ages 3-17 and free for children
under 3 years old). You

a Spring Garden Plant
Sale. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
come beautify your garden
with vegetables, herbs and
flowering plants while supporting
your local library. The
friends of South Hollis Library
grow affordable, greenhouse
raised vegetables,
flowers and herb plants for
Queens residents to enjoy.
