Sources familiar with the investigation said a bystander found the victim covered with a plastic bag on 108th Street under the LIE at about 7:45 a.m. on July 23 and contacted police. Officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units responded to the location and discovered that the man sustained blunt force trauma to the back of his head. Paramedics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital in very critical condition. Authorities believe the man might be homeless as he was discovered near a known homeless encampment under the overpass. NYPD Crime Scene Unit officers, in investigating the location, found various clothing items. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. COLLEGE POINT APARTMENT BUILDING GOES UP IN FLAMES By Michael Tabrizi editorial@qns.com/@QNS Huge blaze ripped through three residential building in College Point in Queens on July 21. On Thursday, July 21, at 9:51 p.m., firefighters responded to a four-alarm fire at 18-11 College Point Blvd. in Queens. The fire started in a three-story apartment building and in less than an hour spread to three other apartment buildings, an FDNY spokesperson told QNS. According to CBS Local the fire completely destroyed two of the buildings. After roughly three hours and 45 minutes of intense intervention, the fire department declared the fire under control at approximately 1:36 a.m. Nine firefighters were sent to local hospitals with minor injuries, according to FDNY. It is still unclear how many people were displaced, but reports estimate that at least 15 people were left homeless. The cause of the fire remains a mystery for the moment, but the FDNY is investigating the event. Fresh Meadows apartment and attempted to rob her at gunpoint, police reported. The incident took place on Wednesday, June 20, at 8:13 p.m., near 71st Avenue and 162nd Street. The 42-year-old woman was inside her apartment at a residential building when three burglars knocked on the door. As the woman answered the door, the group pulled out a gun and forced their way into her apartment. Once inside, the individuals tied the victim’s hands behind her back and demanded money. The teenage burglars fled the scene emptyhanded. The first suspect is described as a black female, approximately 17 to 19 years old, standing at 5 feet 7 inches, with a dark complexion and a ponytail, last seen wearing black sneakers, a red T-shirt and a brown bag. The second person is described as a black male, about 17 to 19 years old, standing at 5 feet 10 inches, weighing 180 pounds, with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a black jacket, black hat and black sneakers, and carrying a black bag.
