Job fair a success More than 1,200 prospective employees turned up to Queens Center on Thursday, June 6 for its employment and recruitment fair. The job fair, which was in partnership with Borough President Helen Marshall, sought qualified applicants to fill retail positions at Queens Center and in various businesses.  There were agency services on hand to assist job seekers regardless of their status and to provide job readiness and workforce development services as well. A few of the companies who participated included Aldo Shoes, American Eagle Outfitters, Avon Products, Inc., Charlotte Russe, The Children’s Place, GameStop, Helzberg Diamonds, Jcpenney, Macy*s, New York & Company, Resorts World Casino New York City, Swarovski, Things Remembered and Victoria’s Secret. Co-op’s street fair raises thousands for Bayside school The Windsor Park Co-op in Bayside, celebrating its 30th year, hosted a street fair on Sunday, June 9. The fair featured food, carnival rides, arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including a Motown band. The day’s proceeds of several thousand dollars will go to P.S. 205.
