Featuring over 90 vendors, music collaboration with Songza LIC Flea & Food is finally here and will hold its grand opening this weekend, June 15 and 16. The market is located at 5-25 46th Avenue (the corner of 5th Street and 46th Avenue) in Long Island City. LIC Flea has partnered with Songza, one of the largest Queens technology companies. Songza is a free music app that helps you find the perfect song for the perfect time. Songza will curate a playlist for LIC Flea and feature a lineup of DJs. DJ Whitney Day, Jilly Hendrix and Sean Glass will mix tunes for the kickoff starting at noon and will spin throughout the day as visitors shop and eat around the market. DJ Whitney Day will perform from noon to 1:30 p.m., DJ Jilly Hendrix from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and DJ Sean Glass will start his beats at 3 p.m. LIC Flea & Food will be open every Saturday and Sunday this summer from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is within walking distance from the No. 7 train and East River Ferry LIC/Hunters Point stop. Riders can transfer from the N and Q lines at Queens Plaza to connect to the No. 7 train. The market will feature food from Texas BBQ to Marshmellows. Monica Ortiz and Carlo Bermudez will be creating distinct artwork by doing things such as placing orchids inside of Mason jars and selling their own handmade candles in order to bring their own brand of style to this market. Floresta caters to approximately 60 weddings per year and is in the process of expanding to other locations.
