Andrea Sanderlin, a suburban mother from Scarsdale, reportedly came off as a typical mom taking care of her three children, driving her Mercedes SUV around town. However, federal authorities busted her for allegedly running a large-scale marijuana operation. Her side project was unearthed when the Drug Enforcement Administration discovered a weed-growing warehouse nestled in Maspeth. It housed over 1,000 marijuana plants as well as large quantities of dried marijuana, according to a criminal complaint. In April, a confidential witness told law enforcement agents that a woman they knew as “Andi” operated at least one grow house. “Andi” was later identified as Sanderlin. When feds tracked Sanderlin’s Con Edison accounts, they were led to a location entitled “Fantastic Enterprises” associated with Sanderlin’s phone number. Con Ed reps told agents the site was using an unusually high amount of electricity and bills were paid in cash, according to authorities. May. On May 20, feds tracked the woman as she left her home and stopped her just before she got to the grow house. Sanderlin went with them to the site and confirmed the warehouse was hers. However, she did not give them permission to enter. Agents obtained a search warrant, and discovered the location contained a “sophisticated operation to grow and process marijuana.” “Each room contained state-of-the-art lighting, irrigation and ventilation systems to facilitate growing the marijuana,” the DEA complaint said. If convicted, Sanderlin faces a minimum of 10 years in jail. Roughly two or three minutes later, he said, he heard two more shots. Primus, 61, of St. Albans, lives across the street from police officer Sherlon Smikle. Smikle allegedly shot and killed his wife, Lana Morris, outside their Camden Avenue home on Wednesday, June 5. He then went inside and fatally shot himself in the head, police said. “I look outside and I’m seeing this lady face down in the street,” said neighbor Beverly Ellis. “I looked out and I said, ‘That looks like Lana.’” Ellis, 63, called 9-1-1 after she also heard gunshots. She said police swarmed the quiet block soon after. Morris worked as a school safety officer and was still in her uniform when she was shot. “Her face was down near the sewer,” Ellis said. “She was not moving.” Smikle, 33, and Morris, 46, were known by neighbors as “lovely” and “quiet.” “Things seemed beautiful,” said Sherman Sanders, who lives across the street. “They seemed like the perfect family.” Despite outward appearances, Ellis said cops showed up at the couple’s door approximately two weeks ago in response to a domestic violence call. The couple has one daughter, Lara, 8, who was not home at the time of the shooting. Smikle had a reputation among neighbors for loving his daughter.
