As the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Queens College, she is responsible for directing the College’s development and fundraising efforts and managing the activities and staff of the Development Offi ce, Offi ce of Alumni Relations and Special Events. Mrs. Dorf is charged with developing strategies to lead the College’s $150 million capital campaign. She works with the President, Provost and Board of Trustees to grow the College’s endowment by expanding or creating programs for the annual fund, planned giving, the identifi cation, cultivation and solicitation of major gift donors, and partnerships with corporations and foundations. Prior to coming to Queens College, Laurie Dorf held executive-level positions at the YMCA of Greater New York (Director of Citywide Annual Support Campaigns), New York Law School (Director of Alumni Affairs and Special Events) and Columbia University, Teachers College (Executive Director for Development). Mrs. Dorf graduated from the College of Staten Island/CUNY with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and earned her master’s degree in Public Administration from New York University. She is on the Board of Directors of Women in Development (WID), and is a member of the Social Action Committee of Temple Shaaray Tefi la, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Senior Leadership Team of Eleanor Roosevelt High School. CLARA BERG Clara is the parent of a young man with combined hearing and vision loss and is a parent leader across the country and abroad on topics specifi c to family and child concerns. She works as the Family Specialist for the New York Deaf-Blind Collaborative. Her work is recognized around student and family advocacy, Person- Centered Planning and Parent Leadership Training. As a m u l t i l i n g u i s t (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian), Clara has been able to create strong linkages between families across language and cultural barriers. She is a founding member of the New York Parent Association for Deaf-Blind where she remains very active. She was also part of the “Dream Team” that founded the National Family Association for Deaf- Blind where she is the current president. Clara resides in Queens, N.Y., with her husband, Jake, and they have three adult children who make them very proud! MARYANN DIBLASI MCALEER Maryann DiBlasi McAleer thoroughly identifi es with the wonderful borough of Queens; she was born and raised in Queens and continues to live and work here. Maryann has been the Director of Development at Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) and has been in that position since 1998. QCP is a nonprofi t agency helping people with developmental disabilities. Her main focus is to inform the community about QCP and the incredible work being done at this agency for almost 65 years. QCP’s mission is to help people with developmental disabilities make meaningful choices about their lives, and make progress toward greater independence and integration into the community. Ms. McAleer advocates for over 1,500 people with developmental disabilities and asks for the support of the community and business world so that QCP can continue to provide services that will enrich the lives of people with developmental disabilities and help their families in different support roles. In her role as Director of Development, Maryann is responsible for public and community relations, event planning and fundraising. Maryann was born in Corona and moved to Whitestone at age 12, where she attended the New York City Public Schools and Q u e e n s College. Maryann has two w o n - d e r f u l daughters and three adorable grandchildren.
