Since 1999, Ms. Tucker has been second in command of the Regional Alliance for Small Contractors Inc. The Regional Alliance is well-known for its training and outreach programs for small, minority- and woman-owned businesses, as well as for its affirmative action consultant services on major projects, such as Continental Airlines Global Gateway Project at Newark Liberty International Airport, JetBlue T5 at JFKIA, and Delta Air Lines’ projects at JFKIA and LaGuardia. Prior to joining the Regional Alliance, Ms. Tucker was a career employee with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, last working in its Office of Business and Job Opportunity (now known as the Office of Business Diversity and Civil Rights). Ms. Tucker was an assistant manager in charge of the office’s M/WBE certification unit, where she reviewed relevant legislation impacting M/W/DBEs and would make recommendations in her “how come we can’t and couldn’t it be done this way” manner. In addition, she has organized “how-to” training sessions for firms interested in submitting proposals/bids for airport concessions and janitorial maintenance opportunities. She has kept abreast of the M/W/DBE certification guidelines and is often called upon by her colleagues at the Port Authority and NJTransit to provide assistance to them in reviewing difficult certification applications. Most recently she was the lead in a DBE certification training seminar provided for staff at both the NJTransit and the Port Authority.
