12 THE QUEENS COURIER • CATHOLIC SCHOOL • JANUARY 28, 2016 FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK Religious leaders teach students about vocation for Project Andrew BY ERICA SIUDZINSKI Earlier this month, local religious leaders and alumni held a conversation about their vocation to priesthood with students at Cathedral Preparatory School and Seminary in Elmhurst. On Jan. 7, Bishop DiMarzio, Father Sean Suckle ‘03, Father Fonti ‘84, Father Kuroly ‘01, Father Rodriguez and Father Herrera ‘05 spoke to students about their vocation as a part of a Cathedral initiative called Project Andrew. Twenty-three Cathedral men and three Xaverian men sat in the Cathedral Studio listening to the stories. Bishop DiMarzio spoke of the varied emotions priests encounter during discernment and time as a priest. He highlighted the sadness of funerals to the joy and gladness of Baptisms, daily Mass, and Reconciliation. Father Kuroly, a graduate and assistant principal of Cathedral, spoke about his communication with his pastor growing up. When Kuroly expressed commitment to an education at Cathedral as a way of achieving his goal of priesthood, his pastor gently corrected him. “No,” he responded, simply yet powerfully. “You go there to fall in love.” The conversation was followed by a question-and-answer session led by Bishop DiMarzio. The night concluded with dinner.
