Short Drive
The Ladies’ Golf Association hits the
road for their end of season gala
STORY AND PHOTOS

The venerable Little Neck
Italian restaurant, Il Bacco,
provided an elegant tableau
for the Ladies’ Golf Association
season-ending awards-fest. More
than fifty golfers attended, enjoying
an evening of yummy eats, camaraderie
and celebration. Each participant
was greeted at the entrance
with a stylish utility purse, whimsically
filled with a custom marker
and trio of balls to commemorate
the event and set the tone for the
evening of revelry to come.
Savory Italian selections, such as
stuffed mushrooms, meatballs and
Margherita pizza slices were among
the passed hors d’oeuvres, during
the opening cocktail hour. Ladies’
Golf Association President Judy
Lev took a moment to share some
highlights from the season, including
the more than $70,000 raised
through the Babes & Guys event for
the American Cancer Society, and
thanking individuals, whose unfailing
service made for another great
year, such as Golf Pro Bob Guido,
Assistant Golf Pro John Morrison,
Director of Grounds Eric O’Neill,
Country Club Manager Mary Anne
2018 Ladies Golf Association Champion Cheryl Rosenzweig between
Country Club Golf Pro Bob Guido and Assistant Golf Pro John Morrison
Langone and her assistant Jessica
Buffolino.
Initial courses of penne with marinara
sauce and arugula salad, provided
a pleasant break before the
year’s distinctions were announced,
which included gifts for everyone
who hit a birdie during the season,
a plaque for Marlene Zucker for
achieving a hole-in-one, and trophies
for the Champion and runners
up (see sidebar). Dinner was
choice of Veal Francaise, chicken,
salmon or eggplant rollatini.
This year’s closing dinner also
marked the end of Judy Lev’s successful
2-year term as president.
After vote via secret ballot after
dinner, Kathy Bitetti emerged her
successor, narrowly beating Ruth
Goldstein. Bitetti will be joined
by 1st Vice-President Arline
Cammeyer, 2nd Vice-President
Marlene Zucker, Treasurer Sylvia
Rosen and returning Secretary
Roberta Kaufman for the 2019
season.
