From the Writers’ Circle member Writer’s Circle Grace Sells has lived in Building Three for thirty years. These poems represent her versatility, depth, and playfulness…Write on, Grace! Editor’s note: The following poem by Grace was featured in the October edition. Unfortunately, certain lines were accidentally cut somewhere in the production process of the paper. We present it again here complete YOU’RE THINKING OF RETIREMENT? I heard you might retire that you’re thinking of a plan. Have you thought about expenses? Can your income stand the strain? Or will you seek employment to stay solvent and/or sane? Once you’ve finished thinking and retirement’s your goal, remember, keep active. Don’t cave to boredom. exercise your brain, and celebrate your freedom. GROWN-UP KID This park I found has a climbing wall, seesaws and Big kids’ swings with leather seats and shiny chains and that soft air whooshes in my ears when I lean back with my legs stretched out racing on my swing going higher and faster than ever before or at least that’s what I think since I don’t know exactly how high I go or fast I fly. Mostly I just spout off how great it is to be a kid and a grey-haired grown-up too. TRUE FRIENDSHIP He came when I called to lend his ear to ease my fear of loneliness. He came when I cried to dab my tears so I could see with clarity. He came when I laughed And he laughed when I laughed, and together Made harmony When I couldn’t call and cried no tears and didn’t laugh, He came just the same. LIVE THEATER COMES TO NST BY FRED CHERNOW After an early sell-out of seats for “The Bronx Wanderers” last month we are happy to announce that Music Man Productions, a leading promoter of concerts in the N. Y. metro area is coming back to North Shore Towers with affordable, quality entertainment. Working with Anne and Henry Stempfel, operators of the newly refurbished movie theater, they have a roster of shows and concerts for our residents at reasonable prices. Gary Fuchs and Joe Colagero have brought their productions to Queensborough Community College, as well as Queens and Brooklyn College featuring Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vinton, and Neil Berg’s Broadway Productions. Our residents will no longer have to go to Florida or college campuses to enjoy first rate entertainment. The comfortable seats and new sound system will enhance the experience in our new Cinema. Stay tuned. Together with Buffy and Spiros, new managers of our Towers Restaurant and Towers on the Green, we will have dinner theater right here in Building Two! It’s not too early to plan an exciting New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a sit down dinner, unlimited wine, beer, and soda, as well as a Champagne toast at midnight.
