26 North Shore Towers Courier n November 2015 BY LEO TUJAK The NST tennis season has come to a close. All in all it was a very pleasant and successful season. Membership increased and the Tennis Cup was returned to NST. To end the season in an appropriate manner, the closing dinner was held at Westbury Manor on September 17th. More than 80 people attended the dinner and dance. It started off with an outdoor Tuscan table, followed by passed hot hor d’oeuvres and an open bar. Because it was such a beautiful evening, this was held on their patio garden. We then proceeded inside for a three-course dinner. Before dinner started we thanked the people who made this all possible and worked so hard to accomplish it: The board, the staff; and both the Country Club and the tennis staff. Awards were presented by Tennis Pro Rick Bates and Assistant Tennis Pro Melisande Schwartz to tournament winners in the form of gift cards. As always Mary Anne Langone created centerpieces for the tables. Music, dancing, eating and drinking proceeded and lasted through the evening. Elections were held and a new tennis board was elected, comprised of Anneleis Karp, Carol Meyerson, June Stelboum, Lydia Feinberg, Gerry Rubin, Mark Eisenstein and Leo Tujak. Then to really cap things off, we had a free-for-members brunch on Saturday, October 10th, in Towers on the Green. There was a good turnout of more than 60 people for the buffetstyle brunch, drinks and coffee. Again we thank those that have helped all season, introduced the new tennis board—President Leo Tujak, Vice- President Anneleis Karp, Treasurer Carol Meyerson, Assistant Treasurer Mark Eisenstein, Secretary Lydia Feinberg, and new entertainment committee members June Stelboum and Gerry Rubin. AND THEN to add a funny slant to the proceedings, Carol and Marvin Meyerson read some poetic, rhyming ditties about each and every tennis player. Quite funny and insightful and o-o-oh so true! We hope next season will be as successful as this one, if not more so. Anyone looking for information about tennis, playing, sponsoring a member, etc. should ask at the Country Club front desk. Or contact any board member. The 2015 Tennis Association members Photo by Julie Weissman GAME... SET...
