“Art in Autumn” Exhibit “Art in Autumn” is coming to the Manhasset Art Association to celebrate the season of fall. On Saturday, November 2, 2013, the group will host the seasonal event at the QW Framing and Conservation Gallery in Port Washington. The exhibit will run through Saturday, November 30 and will feature a variety of media, including photography. Approximately 40 artists from the 90-member Manhasset Art Association are expected to participate. A reception open to the public is scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013 between the hours of 2:00-4:00 p.m. Kyle Blumenthal will judge and critique the artwork during the opening reception at which time awards will be distributed for Best in Show, Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. Honorable Mention certificates will also be issued. Manhasset Art Association President Barbara Silbert said the organization is looking forward to exhibiting small works at QW Framing and Conservation Gallery just before the holidays. “Our members work in oils, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, colored pencil, photography  and monoprinting. Stop in - you may find a small landscape,  still life or a beautiful photograph for someone you know or for yourself.” Exhibit Judge Kyle Blumenthal experiences life as an artist, always looking at color, shadow and form in order to better portray them on canvas. She has exhibited in the greater New York and Long Island area to critical acclaim and has won numerous awards, including special awards at the Sodarco Gallery in Montreal. Board member headlines Columbus Day Parade PHOTO COURTESY OF MARIA TERMINI-MILLER BY MAGGIE HAYES Board member Maria Termini- Miller celebrated this Columbus Day and her own Italian heritage at the annual parade and celebration in Manhattan. “I am deeply honored and proud to have been selected to lead the NYC Department of Sanitation’s Columbia Association up 5th Avenue as we celebrated our . . . culture and history,” she said. Termini-Miller came to the United States 47 years ago from a small town and Italy, and, like Christopher Columbus, she said, her family came by ship to “the land of opportunity.” In the Columbia Association, Termini-Miller was the first female honorary Marshal, and she celebrated as she walked up the city streets. “It was such a memorable experience, one that I will always cherish with fond memories.” Termini-Miller, new to the Board, heads the GAP Committee and is in charge of the gym, aerobics and pool.
