North Shore Towers Courier n October 2015 17 ALLIANCE HOMECARE Treating Your Family Members Like Our Own When a loved one loses his or her independence, give yourself peace of mind by choosing a care network that will give your family the support needed (continued on page 18 to navigate this life-changing event. When Gregory Solometo’s beloved grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he learned firsthand exactly how challenging it can be to find quality elder care. From difficulty retaining in-home caregivers to witnessing the less-than-desirable environments in many nursing home facilities, he decided to use his business background to find a solution that would not only benefit individual elders, but also relieve their loved ones from the burden of finding trusted, high-quality assistance. In 2006, approximately three years into his grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, Solometo thought to use his family’s own situation as the foundation for an organization that would address the shortcomings of many elder caregivers. After years of working in banking, Solometo decided to put his finance experience and client service skills to use in a different way. He joined forces with two critical care nurses from New York Columbia Presbyterian University and founded Alliance Homecare. “We merged the nurses’ clinical skills and my business background and life experience to create the best homecare service in New York City,” says Solometo. “As someone who was brought up by his grandparents, and remained very close with them as an adult, I strongly felt that this model would serve so many other families just like mine,” says Solometo. Today, after over a decade caring for New York City’s elderly, Alliance Homecare is helping patients and their families to thrive. With offices in Manhattan, Woodbury, and West Nyack, Alliance covers the greater New York area with ease. Services offered include private duty nursing, home health aides, companions, geriatric care management, physical therapy, nutritional counseling and more. According to Solometo, Alliance Homecare offers a comprehensive model of care services, meaning that every service provided by the organization is selected and vetted by the management team to ensure topnotch quality. Alliance calls its own model of caregiving “concierge home care,” meaning that every aspect of an elder’s care is tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual and his or her family. The Alliance Homecare staff makes every effort to foster a collaborative, comprehensive, and compassionate approach to the care of each client. This 360-degree approach includes • Providing full-service home care delivery • Dual intake with a registered nurse licensed clinical social worker • Monthly in-person case manager visits • Physician and specialist coordination • Dedicated on-call care management effective scheduling • Long-term care policy management safety assessments • Patient and family advocacy • Quality medical equipment and supply ordering • Access to a premiere affiliate network of trusted partners • Emergency planning services • A comprehensive food delivery program. The Alliance Homecare team of professionals makes themselves available 24 hours per day to address every need that a patient and their family may have. “We visit clients on a monthly basis, whereas most agencies only visit every three to six months on average,” explains Solometo. We are providing care for a selective group of individuals who appreciate quality and want the best care available.” In addition to the basic care packages that Alliance Homecare offers, the organization also has a comprehensive list of other services that they refer clients to in order to improve their quality of care. These services include transportation, elder care attorneys, home modification specialists, pet therapy, massage therapy and more. “The aim is to add as much value as possible to the care that we provide by bringing services to your home,” notes Solometo. “My own grandmother was always very particular about how she presented herself in public, so once she got sick, it was very important to me to help her maintain that dignity, which was difficult when I was hiring caregivers.” Some of the most top added services that Alliance Homecare offers to families include home modification support, long term care insurance and Medicaid planning, personal training for family members, emergency response systems like Life Alert and MedicAlert, support groups and programs including brain stimulation and music therapy, wealth management, pet services including grooming, boarding, and visitation therapy, physician Gregory Solometo, Founder and CEO started Alliance Homecare with long-time friends and Registered Nurses, Michele Teter and Diane Sirakovsky.
