10 North Shore Towers Courier n October 2015 “Every fifty years there is a wedding that captures the imagination: Grace and Ranier, Diana and Charles, and now, Jackie and Tony. I am so glad we were invited to this one. Everything was so elegant, so classy, so Rappaport!” Thus was the verdict of North Shore Towers resident wordsmith and Board Member Fred Chernow upon his return from the wedding of longtime NST couple Dennis and Linda Rappaport’s son, Tony, to Jacquelyn Barbella at the M Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 29. The event was a weekend-long, lavish affair, from the gourmet rehearsal dinner in a private club, to an overthe top Sunday brunch, serving everything from eggs to lobster. In attendance were 60 friends and family members, many from North Shore Towers, Dennis and Linda’s home for more than 3 decades, including Fred Chernow with girlfriend Rita Pasternack General Manager Glen Kotowski; Board Member Phyllis Goldstein and husband Mitch; Susan Fladdell; and NST Video Productions guru, John Virga, among others. Upon arrival, each guest was greeted with a festive goodie bag that would make an Academy Awards attendee drool. A majestic chuppah, festooned with orchids and blush roses served as the centerpiece on the wedding day, with the bride and groom entering via a catwalk between a pair of infinity pools. The beautiful ceremony was followed by a penthouse reception overlooking the Las Vegas skyline. Elaborate centerpieces, each blinged-out and themed by a different famous Vegas resort hotel— The Bellagio, The Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace, The Mirage, The Venetian and The Wynn—adorned the tables. Vases filled with diamond crystals and white cymbidium orchids on silver wire with a floral topper of ivory hydrangeas; white, blush and pink roses; layered and textured with cascading crystal strands and white feathers. The favors were rich chocolate playing cards attached to mini champagne bottles with the inscription: “Jacquelyn played her cards right… Tony finally popped the question! Thank You for Sharing Our Special Day!” “We shared many wonderful memories throughout the weekend,” Linda said. “The greatest gift was when Tony told me as we were dancing the mother-and-son dance to Leona Lewis’s “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” that it was ‘the greatest day of his life.’ Jacquelyn called me Mom!
