Isaias Packed a Punch
trees, however. “We also had roof
damage to the main roof on one of
the Buildings and on several of the
utility buildings on the property,”
Kotowski said. Putting the sever-ity
of the storm in perspective, he
said, “This was the worst property
storm damage we have had since
Hurricane Sandy.”
Fortunately, NST has an experi-enced,
responsive staff that got to
work quickly to assess the situation
and mitigate the potential dangers as
much as possible. “Our Department
Heads and I immediately began to
survey and respond to the damage
during the storm,” Kotowski said.
“Our terrific staff began to board up
windows, secure hazardous areas
from entry and to partially cut trees
to allow access on the Grand Central
Parkway Service Road.”
By the morning of August 5,
clean-up was already underway.
“Our landscaping company,
BrightView, arrived early the
next morning bringing many
additional resources to help
with this major clean up,”
Kotowski said.
The most important news is that,
thankfully, no one was injured.
However, Isaias took quite a
financial toll. Kotowski explained,
“I would estimate the storm caused
well over $100,000 in damage. We
are now in the process of working
with our insurance company to file
an insurance claim for the damage.”
“All in all,” he concluded, “I
could not be prouder of how our
Department Heads, Maintenance
and Security staffs responded to
the damage created by the storm.”
In the end, that’s priceless peace
of mind for NST residents.
