On Sunday, August 20,
the Meadow Pointe Cup

The annual contest pits the North
Shore Towers Tennis Club against
its rivals at Meadowbrook Pointe.
NST Tennis was represented by
(in no particular order) Steve
Rosenberg, Len Santner, Barney
Masnick, Dave Paris, Harris
Pinsky and Jerry Mantell for the
men and Joan Gleicher, Carol
Meyerson, Gerry Rubin, Annelies
Karp, Madalyn Klein and Marilyn
Shimon for the women. The
Meadowbrook Pointe Team fielded
Ron, Howie, Steve, Steve, Dave,
Dottie, Alexandra, Marie, Cheryl
and Myrna.
The tournament began with firstround
men’s doubles games and
one mixed-doubles match on court
5, followed by a second round of
mixed doubles.
Scoring for the first round was
NST 25 points, Meadow Pointe 21;
for the second round, it was NST 30
points, Meadow Pointe 10; resulting
in an NST win of 55 points vs.
31 for Meadow Pointe—The cup
returns to NST for another year!
We would like to thank Tennis
Pro Rick Bates for planning and
carrying out the tournament, ably
assisted by intrepid wife Jackie and
NST Country Club staff, Manager
Mary Anne Langone and Cecilia
Farfan. This year we had the pleasure
of having Assistant Pro Mel
return with her 2-month-old son,
Matthew, to help cheer NST on.
The Tennis Club looks forward
to next year’s tournament.
We are the champions
Assistant Tennis Pro Mel and
Matthew cheering on Team
