Team of Levine, Goldstein Oropallo and Silverman Festive table settings greeted the players at the luncheon
hung from the flags of every hole,
each representing a different
country with a sign appropriately
featuring a landmark or signature
image from that locale, along with
a playful introductory rhyme, which
occasionally included instructions
pertaining to the hole. For example,
the hole representing Switzerland
contained a plethora of holes,
inspired by the country’s famous
cheese—Swiss, that is! The Vaticaninspired
hole instructed players to
pray before taking their shot. At the
Ireland green (no pun intended),
golfers had to sing “When Irish
Eyes Are Smiling” before continuing
play. And a sand trap served as
the tee corresponding to the Sahara
Desert!
“They did such a phenomenal
job; it blew my mind,” Marilyn
Salzman said of the custom course.
At the luncheon at Towers in
the Green, Country Club Manager
Mary Anne and her stalwart staff,
with Tulchin and Green, continued
the international theme. Globes
served as centerpieces and a milk
chocolate airplane lollipop greeted
every attendee at each setting. An
additional treat was a framed team
photo, taken that morning during
kick-off. As players arrived, they
also received a traveler’s passport
case.
Buffy and Angelo served a worldly
buffet with delectable delights
from Italy, Greece, China and
Mexico, including eggplant rollatini,
chicken parmesan, pastitsio
(Greek lasagna), gyros, Greek salad,
Chicken Lo Mein, spring rolls, rice,
build-your-own-tacos, and chips
and salsa. At the bar, a refreshing
white wine sangria, with freshly-cut
fruit, was available. And for dessert,
what can be more American than
creating your own sundaes?
Between the lunch and dessert
courses, Golf Pro Bob Guido and
Assistant Golf Pro John Morrison
announced and handed out the
awards for the morning’s winners.
Ladies Golf Association President
Judy Lev then took the podium
to bestow deserved accolades to
Tulchin and Green. “They did a
wonderful job and we want to
thank them.”
