Professor of Constitutional Law and Speaker
James Coll delivered the finale of his
three-part series, Wednesday evening, July
18, to a packed audience in the large card room
off the Towers Cinema entrance. “The Police and
The Constitution” was a fascinating look at law
enforcement in the United States and how the
most important of the country’s founding documents
has shaped its growth over its more than
200 years in existence. Coll, a former NYPD
Detective, proved his lecturing mettle, taking the
seemingly moribund material and shaping it into
concise, interesting bit-size morsels, which kept
the attendees rapt and eager with questions following
the talk. It’s no wonder Coll has become
a regular fixture at various NST club meetings.
