Arlene Augenbraun and Bern Rosenthal will co-lead a discussion of Shulem Deen’s memoir, “All Who Go Do Not Return.” The author is a former member of an insular Chasidic sect in upstate New York. He writes movingly and honestly about his exposure to the outside world, and his loss of faith, family and community. THEY CAME TO AMERICA: EASTERN EUROPEAN JEWISH IMMIGRATION The Migdal Chapter of Hadassah will present popular speaker Arnold Levine on Wednesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the large card room below the Arcade in Building 2. His talk is entitled “They Came to America: Eastern European Immigration in the Late 19th and Early 20th Century.” Mr. Levine is a Modern Orthodox Jew, educated at Yeshivah University, Queens College and the Columbia School of Business. He is a retired corporate executive who has also taught Finance at Lander College, Touro University; Jewish History and Philosophy at the 92 Street Y; and often lectures at Hofstra’s PEIR Program. A world traveler, with 20 trips to Israel, he brings a broad perspective to his presentations. There will be an opportunity for discussion. Audience members are invited to share family immigration stories.
