20 North Shore Towers Courier n March 2016 On February 3, 2016, Jon Kaiman, Democratic Candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, visited North Shore Towers for a “Meet and Greet.” Kaiman is running for the seat currently occupied by Steven Israel, who will not be seeking re-election. He most recently served under Governor Cuomo as Long Island’s Storm Recovery “Czar” and as the Chairman of the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority, overseeing Nassau County’s efforts at financial recovery. For ten years, from 2004 through 2013, Kaiman served as the Town Supervisor of the neighboring town of North Hempstead. He lives in Great Neck, NY, with his wife, Kim, and three children. The Democratic hopeful was greeted by Felice Hannah, Chairperson of the North Shore Towers Political Action Committee and Board Member, and Mort Gitter, President of the Board at North Shore Towers. To Kaiman, Gitter gave a brief background of North Shore Towers, emphasizing the importance of its Community to the local political elections. Kaiman acknowledged the significance of North Shore Towers and its residents, indicating, as if by way of proof, that his visit to The Towers was his first official campaign event. Thereafter, Kaiman was escorted through the Arcade, enjoying many lively exchanges with the residents. Kaiman emphasized that this would be the first of many visits to North Shore Towers, and he looks forward to meeting as many residents as possible before the Democratic Primary in June, 2016.
