Reverend Horton Heat, the Texas trio whose leader has been dubbed “the
godfather of modern rockabilly and psychobilly,” will bless Long Island with
their presence shortly after the release of their latest album, Whole New Life.
For the nonbelievers, the Rev is best known for “Psychobilly Freakout,”
which aired on an episode of Beavis & Butthead; “Big Red Rocket of Love,”
which can be heard in several video games; and one-time Boston Market
accompaniment “Eat Steak.”
“Whole New Life brought out something in me where I am screaming more,”
says Jim Heath, who shares his stage name with the band. “We tested out new
tracks on our most recent tour and they are working better with the audience
than any new songs we premiered since the early days of the band.”
Opening the show will be Big Sandy, Junior Brown and Phil Alvin from the
Blasters.
