New York State is currently
in the middle of a historic
transition that delivers
its first female governor.
It is long overdue for a
woman to lead New York—
but this specific woman,
Kathy Hochul, is the ideal
person to shatter the proverbial
glass ceiling. She is
strong, prepared, and fierce.
She’s ready to get the job

have her in this time of continued
uncertainty.
Governor Hochul will have
much on her plate, such as
continuing the fight against
COVID, building back New
York, investing in our mass
transit infrastructure, and
revitalizing our economy.
While addressing these issues,
she and her team will
bring a new perspective toward
governing. During
this transition, the Hochul
Administration has shown
grace, seriousness, and confidence
- all critical qualities
of an effective government.
We are also confident that
the Hochul administration
will prioritize infrastructure
investment on Long Island.
We must continue to
invest in building new and
vital projects and repair our
roads and bridges. A s Lieutenant
Governor, Hochul
focused on economic stimulus
initiatives throughout
the s tate. H er r esponsibilities
included overseeing the
state’s Regional Economic
Development Councils. Her
familiarity and support for
projects she helped develop
will likely remain among
her p riorities. T hese p rojects
include the Long Island
council’s recommendations:
• Construction of a new
LIRR station at Brookhaven
National Laboratories
• Electrify the Long Island
Rail Road’s Port Jefferson
Branch
• Accelerate the reconstruction
of Route 347
• Begin an Environmental
Impact Study to fix the
Oakdale Merge on Route 27
• Advance the Sagtikos/
Sunken Meadow Parkway
capacity expansion project
• Address the Meadowbrook/
Southern State Parkway
interchange traffic flow.

with the governor to advance
these critical projects
for Long Island and, more
importantly, for the success
of New York under the new
Hochul administration.
