BRONX TIMES R 6 EPORTER, MARCH13-19, 2020 BTR
On Friday, March 6, a street
co-naming ceremony and
celebration was held for
civil rights activist Claudette
Colvin at the intersection
of Unionport Road
and East Tremont Avenue,
on the street that she and
her family have lived on for
over 60 years. An honoring
ceremony was held after
the street co-naming at St.
Helena Church. Colvin reportedly
refused to give up
her bus seat nine months
before Rosa Parks. The
intersection of Unionport
Road and East Tremont Avenue
will now be co-named
Claudette Colvin Plaza.
