BRONX SCIENCE WINS BRAIN BEE
Last week, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital hosted the ninth annual Brain Bee competition at
its campus in White Plains. Th event featured a competition of high school students who
aspire to have careers as brain surgeons or neuroscience researchers. Bronx High School
of Science senior Bianca Vama won fi rst place and will soon compete in the National Brain
Bee competition at Kent State.

ST. BENEDICT SCHOOL DEFEATS OLA
St. Benedict School’s girls varsity basketball team won the CYO Division B championship
game on Sunday, February 23 by defeating Our Lady of Assumption, 32-29.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION
On Thursday, February 27, Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson, in partnership with the New York
Botanical Garden, hosted a Black History Month celebration which honored Bronx Distict 16
NYCHA Tenant Association presidents and community gardeners.
