BronxNet garners Emmy nomination
BronxNet’s coverage of the
Ezili Dantor, Freedom and the
African Diaspora exhibition
has garnered a 2020 New York
Emmy Award nomination in
the Arts: Program Feature/
Segment category.
Bronx-based artist collaborative
Yelanie Rodriguez,
Melanie Gonzalez and Benton
C. Bainbridge were invited by
the Andrew Freedman Home
to create an artistic response
to Fabiola Jean-Louis’ Rewriting
History exhibition, which
occupied a portion of the fi rst
fl oor of the Andrew Freedman
Home. Rewriting History consists
of period paper gowns,
painterly photographs and polaroids.
Rodriguez, Gonzalez
and Bainbridge created Ezili
Dantor, Freedom and the African
Diaspora, an immersive
exhibition of media art, wearable
art, installations and performance
that takes up the
rest of the extensive space on
the fi rst fl oor. BronxNet documented
the artists building the
installations and the public’s
fi rst experiences with the Ezili
Dantor, Freedom and the African
Diaspora exhibit.
The BronxNet program,

Coronavirus discussion
on BronxNet’s BronxTalk
BronxNet is keeping Bronx
residents up-to-date on the coronavirus.
On Monday March 8,
BronxTalk Host Gary Axelbank
sat down with Falguni Sen, director
of Fordham University’s
Global Healthcare Innovation
Management Center and Dr. Joe
Ahn, chief medical offi cer at
Union Community Health Center,
to discuss key facts on coronavirus
and the outbreak. The
episode will be broadcast this
Monday through Friday at 9 p.m.
on BronxNet Channel 67-Optimum
and 33-Fios
The station is also producing
special programs and public service
announcements to run regularly
on the channels. BronxNet
will share feeds from the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention
and other offi cial agencies to
keep viewers informed about personal
safety and the status of the
virus as it affects public health.
