let loose and have some
fun with style, and western
Queens residents weren’t
afraid to show some personality
in their outfits this
month. From gingham to
Hawaiian to plaid to prints from
around the globe, almost all of
the fashionable locals we spotted
on the streets of Astoria were
sporting some type of pattern.
Astoria textile researcher and designer Labiba Ali aptly
described her look as “global-ethnic,” wearing an “Uzbek ikat
robe paired with Bangladeshi hand silk dress.”
