s I walked around western
Queens hunting for this
month’s most stylish Astorians,
I noticed that many locals
were keeping their style
on the simple side, while
others looked fun and flirty.
Even the seemingly simple looks
were surprisingly unique, like classic
flats made modern with a distinctive
shape or a button-up that, on closer
inspection, had an elephant print. I
spotted solid polos, a great chambray
dress, feminine pleats, a fedora
and funky prints. These looks managed
to beat the heat and humidity
while turning heads on the streets.
Community organizer Elizabeth was on her way to get
coffee. She describes her style as “eclectic.” Her pleated
dress with a bold print and flats caught my attention.
Her personality was just as cute as her outfit!
Yara
(@yarafadel),
a Chicago
resident who
was apartment
hunting in
Astoria, said
her style is
“bohemian/
hipster.” I loved
her chambray
shirt dress,
kicks, shades
and smile. It
was stylish in
an effortless
way, which is
why I had to
approach her in
Starbucks.
Chris
(@chrisschilling)
said his style is
“modern/formal.”
He was apartment
hunting in Astoria
— in a very stylish
look, I might add.
His neutral toned
polo and slacks
paired with leather
belt and loafers
were fashionforward
in a casual
way.
