years, always knew she wanted to be on
the “other side” of her business (more production
instead of hosting), and through a
mutual friend began talking to Yanni and
Gaber about bringing her operations and
logistics experience to help drive the event
side of Little Design Shoppe.
“Whether it's your baby shower, a wedding,
a rehearsal dinner, we always ask: how
are we going to tailor this to really be about
you?” Rosenblatt explained. “Just because
every other wedding or shower you’ve been
to has gone one way, doesn’t mean we have
to do it that way. We can do it more untraditionally
in order to really tell your story.”
The storytelling theme that carries through
all aspects of the design company’s work derives
mostly from Yanni and Gaber’s theater
background, where the process is essential.
“Storytelling is such an important aspect
of theater, especially set design,”
Yanni explained. “You’re creating an entire
world for the characters in a play. But
in real life, you’re doing it for someone
who is going to live there, evolve there,
have kids there, etc.”
This collaborative element is very important
to the Little Design Shoppe team — they
want to get to know their clients and lifestyles
well to make sure the designs work
for them, which involves a process slightly
different (and more hands-on) than that of
other design firms. A Little Design Shoppe
client begins by taking an 100-question
test that Yanni said “digs down into the nitty
gritty of who they are.”
