As soon as you step into Andy Yanni
and Meghan Gaber’s Astoria apartment,
you know they are designers at
heart. From the light green tufted sofa
and color-coordinated bookshelves,
to refurbished vintage furniture and
framed photos of their wedding ceremony
in the woods, every part of the space
allows you to learn different aspects of their
personalities and lifestyle — without even
meeting them.
This type of “storytelling through design”
is an essential belief that the couple hopes
to bring to other homes in Astoria through
Photos by Zachary Zirlin Photography
their new design company, Little Design
Shoppe & Creative Co., along with fellow
team member and longtime Astoria resident
Katie Rosenblatt.
But home design is actually only a sliver
of what this group can do. Little Design
Shoppe offers a wide range of services
including interior, event, stationery and
furniture design.
“Things we have experience in and
things that bring us joy, we want to offer
to other folks,” Yanni said.
It all technically began when Yanni and
Gaber met attending NYU’s Tisch School
of the Arts in 2008 — with Yanni studying
set design and Gaber studying costume
design — but the true root of the group’s
passions can be traced back even further,
to their childhoods.
