Gaber grew up taking art classes and
fondly recalls creating elaborate slumber
parties (complete with custom invitations)
for her friends. Yanni describes himself
as the kid who “wanted to go to Costco
to get the newest coloring set” instead of
playing video games like other children
his age. He also had a habit of rearranging
the house whenever his parents were away.
And Rosenblatt always lent a hand organizing
school dances and even planned town
parades in her hometown of Allentown, PA.
After college, Gaber worked in the
wardrobe department of Broadway
shows like “The Lion King” and “Beautiful:
The Carole King Musical,” and Yanni
worked at different interior and event
design firms that were more corporately
focused. They had learned what a good
team they made when working together
on shows at NYU — but it was when they
got engaged in 2014 that they realized
how to turn their teamwork and passions
into the next phase of their careers.
“I used to always joke that if theater
didn’t work out for me I’d be a wedding
planner, but it wasn’t until we starting designing
the wedding that I was like, ‘Wow, I
really love this. I could actually do this for a
living,’” Gaber said.
Gaber designed the entire invitation
suite, including a colorful fold-out-map
invite and save-the-date, which was so
well-received by guests that other friends
began requesting her work. This led to
the custom stationary sector of Little Design
Shoppe — which you may even see in
local shops soon with a line of cards and
stationery featuring Queens and New
York staples.
