clients was Astoria resident Erin Black, who
needed help completing a total gut renovation
and third floor addition to her traditional
Astoria row house.
“Andy, Meghan and the team have been
amazing in both helping me define my aesthetic
and determine a way to make the
space not only beautiful, but totally functional
for a family with four young children,”
she said. “No small feat with less than 2,000
square feet!
“I feel like my home really tells the story of
my family — from the entry way with ample
cubbies and storage, a vintage 1900s stadium
bench we found together at a resale shop, and
artwork my 12-year-old daughter painted in
her after school class — to the bedrooms that
somehow incorporate every silly thing my children
requested and still look chic.”
From starting at the gut renovation level
and working with architects and contractors,
to choosing furniture and accessories, to organizing
the home once it’s complete — Little
Design Shoppe can come in at various parts
of the process, and having clientele mostly in
Astoria has allowed them to become experts
in small spaces and even rentals.
“We’re always figuring out how people
use their space in day-to-day life, and how to
make it so their space works for that,” Gaber
said. “And we want people to know that just
because you’re renting, doesn't mean there
aren’t changes you can make that will make
the space more enjoyable.”
This can also include coming into a home
after it is finished and curating bookshelves,
organizing closets and pantries — making
sure the space is truly livable for the client
and, above all, tells the story of their life.
