It astonishes me how quickly things can change, and suddenly a place that holds special memories throughout the years can seem to vanish overnight. The passing of Brick Café certainly caught many of us off guard. But with each door that closes, a new one opens. This month, we explore the flavors of the world that come together in our vibrant neighborhood. Tibetan cuisine has found a home at Dawa’s in Sunnyside, while the Pacific Rim has planted its roots on a rooftop on Steinway. The youth and electricity of our ever changing corner of the city will undoubtedly celebrate the genius of Flattopps Burgers and Barcade. Better yet, sample bites from every corner of the globe with the opening of the Astoria Night Market this weekend. When all is said and done, you can burn it all off at the new fitness center now up and running at the Iron Lion!
