LAID-BACK WEEKEND

@PHOTOSBYMARIETORIO On the Sunday I set out to take photos of stylish Astorians,
the snow had melted away and the sun was shining bright.
Locals took advantage of one of the first spring-like days,
opting for lighter outerwear than we’ve seen for months.
As western Queens residents and visitors set out for a day
of brunching and browsing local shops, I noticed that many people
were sporting relaxed styles. Everyone gave these laid-back looks their
own personal touch, with rolled-up jeans, motorcycle jackets, hoodies,
textures, coats and accessories like hats, sunnies and bags. Take a look
at some of the fashion that stood out to me.
Mee-Lai, who was visiting Astoria,
said she has a “free-spirited”
style. I loved her cozy coat paired
with her black and white outfit
and sneakers. Her look was
relaxed with a stylish flare.
Ashley, who was
visiting Sugar
Freak with friends,
described her style
as “whatever feels
good for the day.”
I loved her bright
sneakers and
jacket. Definitely
felt like a ray of
sunshine when I
saw her.
Jonathan is a bartender
who was also
visiting Astoria for
brunch. His bomber
jacket, jeans and
Converse gave him
the perfect laid-back
vibe for a Sunday
with friends.
William (@williamsasek) is a hairdresser visiting Astoria. He
had just finished brunching at Sugar Freak and was getting
some books at Astoria Bookshop. His hoodie, leather jacket
and bright sneakers worked for a relaxed Sunday.
