Cozy and creative:

I promised myself I wouldn’t make a “more than
OK” pun, but that might have disappointed owners
Predrag and Giselle Grncarski, and we can’t
have that. This tiny cafe right off Ditmars Boulevard
epitomizes cozy, with about 10 seats, 15 if
you squeeze. Be conscientious about the 45-minute
seating limit and screen-free weekends. The
cafe feels like it’s smiling at you from all sides, with
warm fixtures and quirky furnishings.
The innovative menu includes unusual concoctions
using Counter Culture Coffee. Those
include the signature Magic 8 Ball chicory cold
brew, London Fog, and maple almond lattes. Try
the coffee soda pop, an addictive blend of coffee,
orange and sparkling water that brings out the
floral, citrus notes. Food features the usual pastry
suspects, but the baked empanadas consistently
hit the spot. Rotating flavors give you an excuse
to stop in whenever their sandwich board hits the
sidewalk. And trust me, you’ll want to.
