Classic third-wave:
Astoria Coffee
30-04 30TH ST., ASTORIA
WWW.ASTORIACOFFEENY.COM
Astoria Coffee started as a wholebean
delivery service that transitioned
into a gathering place to geek out about
coffee. The sun-drenched space features
the de rigeur blonde wood, white
brick walls and metal stools, but Astoria
Coffee brightens things up by painting
those stools a sunny yellow and accenting
the space with local art. The space
isn’t large, but high ceilings make it feel
airy and unfailingly friendly service welcomes
each and every patron.
Serving a rotating cast of roasters, this
place caters to coffee nerds. Check back
regularly for new arrivals, or take home
a bag of beans. While food is limited to
a small case of sweet and savory baked
goods, what it does offer stands up well.
And if you’re the type who likes to wear
her heart on her sleeve, Astoria Coffee
also offers swag that proclaims your love
of your borough and bean, all in one.
