embarrassing. I think adding that aspect to
the apartment made it feel more authentic to
my story. It makes it feel like home without my
parents actually being here.”
And while Magallon loves her redecorated
apartment, sometimes it feels odd to live
in her childhood home all by herself, she
acknowledged.
“There are so many little nuances in this
home,” she said. “The heater makes a specific
sound. And then you can hear the neighbors
next door. And I'm still afraid of the dark and
I'm afraid of random noises. So now I have to
navigate these feelings on my own.”
But, she said, the experience has still been
“rewarding and freeing.”
