I’m most at peace on a cold night with a
fresh bed of vegetables topped with jasmine
rice and tofu in garlic sauce. Luckily,
there’s Tuk Tuk Thai food and their enormous
amount of vegan lunch and dinner options
to help bring me contentment on a winter
night. Apart from their generous portions
of perfectly prepared soft and fried tofu and
vibrant veggies, their vegan mock duck is
also one of my go-to meals. It’s served with
mango, lime leaf, cashew and mint — a grand
medley if there ever was one. Also notable
is their vegan Magic Mushroom house special
that includes shitake, eryngii and white
mushrooms glazed with garlic pepper brown
sauce and scallions.

When I found out Queens had a place to get a vegan donut, it
was one of those “It’s a great time to be alive” moments. Doughnut
Plant’s chocolate-chocolate doughnut and banana doughnut
are 100 percent vegan and 100 percent amazing. They are soft
and sweet — basically everything you could ask for in a dessert.
Their whole menu is elaborate with flavors like banana and PB&J,
coconut cream and carrot cake, and they use no eggs or artificial
flavors in any of their designer creations. Pair your dairy-free
doughnut with a soy latte or iced coffee to really make this experience
worthwhile for you and your taste buds.
