BOOM SHAKES UP JFK CHAMBER
OF COMMERCE LUNCHEON
AIRPORT VOICE, APRIL 2019 45
BOOM Supersonic Head
of Global Policy Eli Dourado,
shook up everday flight
expectations with the announcement
of the new Supersonic
jet in development.
With Mach 2.2 speed, flying
at an altitude of 60,000 feet,
and anticipated travel time
from NY to London is just
over 3 hours, this jet wowed
the audience. Luncheon
guests enjoyed the detailed
presentation of the sleek
plane, and futuristic vision
of fast travel planned for
2025-2016.
Not since the demise of
the Concorde has a civilian
commercial aircraft capable
of supersonic flight been developed.
Guests asked questions
about supersonic noise, environment
impact and cost
of the flights. Dourado responded
that the company
has considered all these factors
and that the noise had
been greatly reduced from
the Concorde; the environment
impact reduced and the
cost for a round trip flight
would be about $5,000.
Chamber President Joe
Cloabby and Chamber VP Al
DePhillips presented Dourado
with a special award of
recognition.
It was a perfect day for
the luncheon as the first day
of spring. Guests mingled before
hand during the cocktail
hour discussing upcoming
airport events such as
the Christ for World Chapel
Bishop Wright Luncheon
Aviation Man and Woman
of the Year and Susan Baer
Scholarship Award Luncheon
April 10th at Russos
on the Bay.
Doppelgangers! Torey McCleskey, Queens Field Director Boy Scouts of
America and Eli Dourado were often mistaken for each other at the
luncheon. All in fun.
